Since the inception, English premier league had hundreds of managers. 20 teams battle the fight of survival down the wire, until the final day of the season and the stress and tautness is easily seen on the face of 20 managers. The position of the manager is such a high profile job, but it comes with instability and pressure- two or three back to back defeat in a row and your reign as manager is ended. It’s hard to survive, but some of the managers have enjoyed incredible success on the pitch like Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Rafael Benitez, Davis Moyes etc. In this edition of Football Editorials we shall bring you the best three managers in the English Premier League.
We don’t evaluate the success just by winning titles and glories. It’s the overall effort that helps you achieve the top position. Here is the list of top three managers, currently serving top position in the English Premier League.
Sir Alex Ferguson – Number One
Profile
Club: Manchester United
Nationality: Scottish
Nickname: Fergie
Premier League manager of the year: 9 times
Joined: since 1986
The Scottish is the longest serving manager in the history of English Premier League, yes 23 years and still going strong. He is probably one of the world’s best managers, not only responsible for the achievement, but the development of the players and the club (globally) as well. He is the backbone at the Old Trafford and an icon for many young managers. He is straight forward, strict, discipline and many people associated with the game call him furious fergie.
Why we rate him number one?
Titles Won: 13 Premier League
FA Cup: 5 times
League Cup: 3 Times
Community Shield: 8 Times
UEFA Champions League: Twice
His name is synonymous with success and there is no room for failure. He is temperamental and never felt shy to get on his stars back; like Beckham, Ronaldo or Rooney. He is responsible for creating players like Beckham, Ronaldo, Eric Cantona, Peter Scmeichel, Scholes, Giggs, and many more.
Another reason is his belief in youth and bringing the right players at the right time. There is a great development within the club’s academy and the proof is talented players like Rafael or Macheda or Evans showing maturity on the pitch. He lives to the occasion and shows hunger for trophies, season after season. Even after the defeat, last season at the hands of Barca in the finals of the champion’s league, he is ready to go again.
Prediction for Current Season: 2nd finish
Europa League: Semi Final
Arsene Wenger: Number Two
Profile
Club: Arsenal FC
Nationality: French
Nickname: The Professor
Premier League manager of the year: 3 times
Joined: 1996
The professor is currently serving his 13 year, and he is responsible for changing all around attitude around the club, since taking charge of the office. Wenger is Arsenal’s first manager from outside U.K, proved to be an instant success at the club. He is probably highest paid manager in the premier league approx £ 4.5 million. He is known for his philosophy for the game and his is an ardent follower of the young talented players.
Why we rate him number two?
Titles Won: 3 Premier League
FA Cup: 4 times
Community Shield: 4 Times
UEFA Champions League: Runner-up
His accomplishment might not be as successful as fergie, but what he has achieved with his young boys is highly commendable. He is one of those managers which manage to bring most out of limited resources. He believes in grooming players and never spends heavily on players unlike other managers in the league. Arsenal’s most expensive player is Andrei Arshavin approx £15 million, this suggest that he prefers development over instant success. He is not as lucky as his compatriots in terms of money, (wonder when was last time Arsene had a kitty of £ 50 million to spend) but he has brought players like Henry, Fabregas, Tony Adams, Vieira, Walcott and many more.
He might not be a great tactician, but his faith and conviction in young players are superb. He is unlucky in terms of availability of players, as in last few seasons his players had injury problems at the wrong part of the season. I hope the jinx is finally broken and Arsene achieves what he hasn’t so far – Europa League.
Prediction for Current Season: 3rd finish
Europa League: Semi Final
Davis Moyes – Number Three
Profile
Club: Everton FC
Nationality: Scottish
Nickname: Moyesy
Joined: 2002
The Scottish, currently serving his 7 year, has not won any premier league title or F.A cup during his reign, but he was awarded LMA manager of the year award thrice. He deserves to be on this list, given the budget, injurious and narrow squad of Everton.
Why we rate him number three?
At 46, he has achieved a tremendous success with the club. Many believe he has ability to be a great manager and some experts have even tipped Moyes to be a successor of Sir Alex. He has worked hard and cleverly signed players Lescott, Arteta, Cahill, Phil Neville, Jagielka and Yakubu. He has produced a team full of character, spirit and passion on the pitch. He has consistently led the club a top six finish over the years. (Last season, toffees reached the finals of F.A Cup losing out to Chelsea by 2-1) Toffees may not play stylish, free flowing football, but they win and get results the hard way.
The Goodison Park owes a lot to this Scottish and arguably best manager in the premier league. He is cool, calm and comes up with results under limited resources. He is one of the finest young managers, and surely has the long way to go!!!
Prediction for Current Season: 7th finish
UEFA Cup: Round of 16
Have your say!!!

Moyes did a decent job that year.
